1. ProtoSell does not certify hardware
ProtoSell displays seller-provided descriptions, photos, condition, and test status. ProtoSell does not possess, inspect, electrically test, calibrate, certify, recall-check, ship, install, or warrant listed hardware. A published listing, processed photo, academic badge, or seller statement is not a safety approval or proof of regulatory compliance.
2. Seller duties
- Describe the exact component, condition, test performed, known faults, modifications, missing guards, and included accessories truthfully.
- Disclose known voltage, current, power, battery chemistry, polarity, thermal, mechanical, optical, radio, pressure, chemical, and stored-energy hazards.
- Do not mark an item as tested unless a competent person performed a relevant test using appropriate equipment.
- Do not offer stolen, counterfeit, recalled, contaminated, unlawfully modified, prohibited, or dangerously damaged items.
- Package, label, transport, and hand over components in accordance with applicable law and carrier rules, especially batteries and hazardous materials.
- Provide available manuals, warnings, compatibility limits, and safe-disconnection instructions without concealing defects.
3. Buyer and user duties
- Verify identity, model, ratings, condition, provenance, recall status, compatibility, and included protections before paying or using the item.
- Have a qualified technician inspect uncertain, modified, high-energy, mains-powered, battery, pressure, laser, rotating, radio, or safety-critical equipment.
- De-energize, isolate, discharge, ground, ventilate, and use suitable personal protective equipment and fire controls before inspection or work.
- Do not rely on color, connector shape, seller photos, or a brief power-on test as proof of correct polarity, isolation, calibration, or safety.
- Use components only within manufacturer ratings, applicable standards, local law, and an appropriately controlled environment.
- Stop use immediately if an item is swollen, leaking, unusually hot, sparking, smoking, mechanically unstable, contaminated, or behaving unexpectedly.
4. High-risk and regulated systems
ProtoSell is not intended to authorize unqualified work on medical, automotive, aviation, life-support, public-infrastructure, weapon, explosive, high-voltage, or other safety-critical systems. A component that can transmit radio signals, process personal data, control access, or interact with a regulated system may require licenses, approvals, cybersecurity controls, or specialist installation.
5. Data-bearing devices
Sellers must securely erase storage devices and remove accounts, credentials, network settings, certificates, and personal or confidential data before transfer. Buyers should assume a used device may contain malicious or recoverable data, keep it isolated, and erase or re-image it safely before connecting it to trusted systems.
6. Unsafe listings and incidents
Do not proceed with a transaction if safety information is missing or contradictory. Report an unsafe or prohibited listing through the listing report control or Support. In an emergency, disconnect power only if safe, move away from danger, and contact the appropriate local emergency service or qualified professional; ProtoSell is not an emergency service.
7. Responsibility and mandatory rights
Buyers and sellers are responsible for their direct transaction, inspection, transport, installation, use, and legal compliance. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ProtoSell is not responsible for harm caused by seller-provided hardware, inaccurate user statements, or off-platform handling. Nothing in this notice excludes liability or remedies that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
